American taxpayers have been footing the bill for wasteful government spending for decades. The bloated federal bureaucracy continues to grow, with little accountability for how our hard-earned dollars are used. (And boy, do they find creative ways to waste it!)
President Donald Trump’s administration has made government efficiency a cornerstone of its policy agenda. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, has been systematically identifying and eliminating wasteful programs across federal agencies. Remember when government was supposed to serve the people, not radical ideologies?
What they’ve found should shock every American taxpayer.
DOGE announced this week the cancellation of seven National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants that were funding transgender experiments on animals. Yes, you read that correctly – your tax dollars were being used to make mice and rats transgender. Seriously, who comes up with these experiments?!
During a recent speech, President Trump highlighted this absurd spending, noting “$8 million for making mice transgender.” He then reminded Americans that this is “real.”
I don’t know about you, but I never signed up to fund gender transition experiments on rodents.
“Yesterday, @NIH cancelled seven grants for transgender experiments on animals,” DOGE announced. The statement went on to note that one of the grants was $532,000 to “use a mouse model to investigate the effects of cross-sex testosterone treatment.”
Another was $33,000 to test “feminizing hormone therapy in the male rat.”
The White Coat Waste Project, a taxpayer watchdog organization, celebrated the announcement. Their president, Anthony Bellotti, stated: “Taxpayers and pet owners in both parties shouldn’t be forced to pay for these sickening animal tests and thanks to our investigation and DOGE, they won’t have to.”
Trump Administration Cuts Wasteful “Transgender” Animal Experiments
These weren’t isolated incidents. The experiments involved mice, rats, and even monkeys being surgically altered and subjected to hormone therapies to mimic gender transitions. The mainstream media barely covered this story – wonder why?
One particularly disturbing experiment used $1.1 million to give female rats testosterone and then overdose them with party drugs. The purpose? To see if animals taking testosterone were more likely to overdose than those not taking it.
Your tax dollars at work, America!
Justin Goodman of White Coat Waste Project testified before the House Oversight Committee that these animals were “surgically mutilated and subjected to hormone therapies” to mimic gender transitions.
The committee confirmed that at least $241 million of taxpayer money had been spent on transgender animal testing. Goodman noted this figure was merely the “floor” on such research. How much higher does it go? We might never know.
Watchdog Group Exposed $241 Million in Wasteful Experiments
Finding this wasteful spending wasn’t easy. According to Goodman, “You essentially need a degree in Information Technology to navigate the federal spending databases to find any of this stuff.”
Almost like they don’t want us to know where our money goes!
This lack of transparency has allowed these questionable experiments to continue for years without public scrutiny. The animals involved suffered needlessly while taxpayers unknowingly funded the research. Would you have approved this spending if they’d asked you directly?
Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) expressed shock at the hearing when learning about the extent of these experiments. The cruel nature of the testing raised concerns from both animal welfare advocates and fiscal conservatives. It’s rare to find common ground these days, but wasting money on animal mutilation seems to do the trick.
The cancellation of these grants represents a significant victory for both taxpayers and animals subjected to these experiments.
DOGE Continues Saving Taxpayers Millions
Beyond animal testing, DOGE has expanded its audit of federal agencies with unused credit cards. After just two weeks, 146,000 government credit cards were deactivated. That’s not a typo – one hundred and forty-six thousand cards!
Musk noted, “There are still almost twice as many credit/purchasing cards as people in the government, and the limits are $10,000! A lot of shady expenditures happening.”
I’m shocked. Shocked, I tell you! (Not really.)
This credit card audit is just one of many initiatives DOGE has implemented to cut wasteful spending. According to the latest data, DOGE has saved $105 billion thus far, equating to $652.17 per taxpayer. When was the last time the government gave you a $652 discount?
The agency continues to identify and eliminate programs that waste taxpayer money on questionable research and unnecessary expenditures. It’s about time someone stood up for the American taxpayer.
The cancellation of transgender animal experiments highlights the administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and government accountability. Americans deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent. And more importantly, they deserve better than funding radical experiments on innocent animals.
Americans can be thankful that someone is finally looking out for their wallets and putting an end to the government’s most absurd spending projects. The question remains: what other wasteful programs are still hiding in the federal budget?
Key Takeaways:
- DOGE canceled seven NIH grants for transgender animal experiments, saving taxpayers millions.
- Over $241 million was previously spent on surgically altering animals for gender studies.
- 146,000 unused government credit cards with $10,000 limits have been deactivated.
- The Trump administration has saved each taxpayer $652 through DOGE’s efficiency efforts.
