Next month, Donald Trump will finally return to the White House. This comes weeks after Trump trounced Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, winning in both the Electoral College and the popular vote.
In the wake of Trump’s victory, he’s been hard at work putting his administration together. He recently nominated Brendan Carr to lead the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
On Sunday, Carr spoke out to say that Trump has been “knocking it out of the park” with his administration picks. Carr then said that his first goal is to ensure that he fully understands the agenda that Trump wants him to implement.
From Daily Wire:
“Combatting tech censorship is going to be one of the top priorities for me,” he said. “We need to restore Americans’ right to free speech. And you mentioned Facebook and other companies. They have been part of a censorship cartel that have worked with advertisers. They have worked with government officials to censor the free speech rights of everyday Americans.”“That’s got to end, because censorship isn’t just about stopping words. It’s about stopping ideas,” he continued. “America is a country of founders, of people that have pushed boundaries, pushed frontiers. They have innovated. When you silence speech, you silence ideas.”
He said that major tech leaders have already shown willingness to reverse previously held positions, including Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg.

Carr Doubles Down
Meanwhile, Carr went on to double down on social media. On X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Carr wrote that censorship is “unAmerican.”
“America is country of founders, of trailblazers that push boundaries, of innovators,” he said. “And that is why America’s scrappy entrepreneurs feel so much hope with President Trump.”
“They know that the wet blanket of government control is lifting, and President Trump is going to unleash economic opportunity and a great American comeback,” Carr continued. “Smashing the censorship cartel is part and parcel of getting our economy going again.”
When nominating Carr, Trump described him as “a warrior for Free Speech” who has “fought against the regulatory Lawfare that has stifled Americans’ Freedoms, and held back our Economy. He will end the regulatory onslaught that has been crippling America’s Job Creators and Innovators, and ensure that the FCC delivers for rural America.”
Carr, who is currently the top Republican on the FCC, later responded by saying that he is “humbled and honored to serve as Chairman of the FCC. Now we get to work.”
Carr’s History
Carr has previously called for TikTok to be banned if it doesn’t disentangle from its China-based parent company. He’s also pushed for working with Congress to reform Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996. This section gives social media companies a certain amount of immunity for the content on their platforms. It additionally lets them moderate certain objectionable content “in good faith.”
Over the past few years, censorship of conservatives on social media has gotten completely out of control. We’re glad to see that Trump and Carr are both prioritizing putting a stop to this nonsense in such a big way. In the end, this will only help Trump in his quest to make America great again!
