Election Day could not have gone any worse for the Democratic Party. Not only did they lose the presidency, they also lost the Senate and the House.
This was a clear referendum on the entire Democratic Party and its woke agenda. Indeed, the American people let Democrats know that they have gone too far left.
It appears that former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has gotten this message loud and clear. New reports allege that Pelosi is working behind the scenes to stop the radically liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) from scoring a Democrat power position in the House.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reportedly working behind the scenes to put the kibosh on Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez‘ dream of taking a powerful Democratic House position in the new Congress.The 35-year-old progressive Squad member is looking to become the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, having served as vice ranking member. But she would have to beat out Virginia Congressman Gerry Connelly, who also launched his own bid for the top committee job.
Pelosi may no longer be in Democratic House leadership but she still wields immense power and has publicly backed Connolly for the position. Behind the scenes, the 84-year-old California Democrat is reportedly even making calls on behalf of Connolly, according to a new report in Punchbowl News.
Ocasio-Cortez first indicated earlier this month that she was interested in becoming a ranking member. At the time, she said that she was talking to her fellow Democrat lawmakers before launching a formal bid.
Democrats will be in a minority in the House for at least the next two years. Should they take back the House in 2026, however, the ranking member on this committee will have a ton of power. Clearly, Pelosi has no intention of allowing Ocasio-Cortez to get anywhere near this role, however.
Pelosi And Ocasio-Cortez’s History
In October 2018, Ocasio-Cortez joined protesters in storming Pelosi’s office, demanding that she take action on climate change.
Progressives are reportedly livid that Pelosi is trying to ruin Ocasio-Cortez’s chances of coming to power within the Democratic Party.
“Pelosi can’t stop being a puppet master,” said far-left journalist David Dayen. “It is so infantilizing to the House leadership to have a B team of octogenarians scheming behind their backs and aiming directly at their most promising young talent. (Because AOC once showed up to a protest? Is that what this is about?).”
Pelosi has been known to hold a grudge. However, that’s likely not the main reason that Pelosi is plotting against Ocasio-Cortez. Instead, Pelosi can see that the American people have had enough of the far-left nonsense. Ocasio-Cortez embodies the exact kind of progressive Democrat that has caused American voters to flee the liberal party in droves.
In the end, if Democrats want to win elections in the future, they need to distance themselves from Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow radical liberals. Meanwhile, it will certainly be fun to watch Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez go at each other in the weeks to come!
